NFL Draft

The First 15:

1. Houston Mario Williams - DE
2. New Orleans	Reggie Bush - RB
3. Tennessee Vincent Young - QB
4. New York D'Brickashaw Ferguson - OT
5. Green Bay AJ Hawk - OLB
6. San Francisco	Vernon Davis - TE
7. Oakland Michael Huff - CB
8. Buffalo Donte Whitner - S
9. Detroit Ernie Sims - OLB
10. Arizona Matt Leinart - QB
11. Denver Jay Cutler - QB
12. Baltimore Haloti Ngata - DT
13. Cleveland Kamerion Wimbley - DE
14. Philadelphia Brodrick Bunkley - DT
15. St. Louis Tye Hill - CB

I bet Texan fans are absolutely in love with the Mario Williams pick. By in love I mean confused, frustrated, and angry with their franchise for not so much as even calling Reggie Bush or his agent, and/or for passing up on an opportunity to draft an immediate franchise player and morale booster in Young. I mean, c’mon. No matter what he does, David Carr’s not going to be anything but a mediocre quarterback. New Orleans was practically pissing their pants when they handed in their card.

Leinart and Young, considering both the style of play and experience of the current starters for Tennessee and Arizona respectively, are in the ideal situation. Both can learn a lot from the current starters, Warner and McNair, who can not only tutor both players but specifically relate to what they do on the field. It was interesting to see ESPN showing a graphic of the offseason moves the Cardinals had made, then cutting to a smiling Leinart wearing his Cardinals cap. GOTCHA, BITCHES!

Hey, way for Baltimore to trade up a spot at the last minute so that they could draft Heavybastard Ngata. As if there was any danger of another team wanting him that badly (and that early) in the first round. I understand Rey Lewis has been pissing and moaning about not having the support he needs to “dissect offenses,” but c’mon, Ngata? At least pick someone who has something other than 335 pounds in him.

    It’s JR you bastid!

The Deputy as they used to call you (or, more appropriately, you used to call me…ON THE PHONE)…well I got you now you little punk. I just sent Pie over the rub his mohawk all over your crotch…he’s gonna tell me if you liked it so you better be honest…in any case, it’s been lonely on the show without you calling in and pretending to be my dead grandmother…In fact, my baby boomer audience misses all the hilarity you used to bring as now all we talk about is trite mid-life issues like not allowing Mexicans into the CRegion…YEAHHHHHH Republican Afternoon Talk Radio never sounded good…GOTCHA!

What this draft means to me:

    1. With luck, I won’t have to look at Mel Kiper’s hair this time next week. I’m anticipating he’ll be breaking this down on SportsCenter for another 6 days.
    2. The “That’s actually somone’s name” award goes, relatively uncontested to D’Brickashaw. I’ve been hearing the name for a few weeks now and I still can’t believe it.

      1. Nevermind the hair, what about that AWFUL AWFUL commercial he did for Mobile ESPN? “Trade messes up my daggone Top 10!” It was especially painful when it started airing ad nauseum from last Wednesday up to and including the draft. That, combined with the hockey haircut, makes me wonder why everyone hates so much on Chris Berman. Okay, maybe I won’t go that far, but freaking Mel Kiper!
      2. As far as names go, Tampa Bay missed a golden opportunity in not drafting Marcedes Lewis. They could’ve had a Mercedes, a Cadillac (Williams), and an Edsel (Tim Rattay).

Fixed – why did I think Cadillac was with Carolina now?

I know who Matt Leinart is now! And apparently because I’m hanging out with a USC devotee and an all around sport nut – I’m supposed to care.

I haven’t come out to them as a full on theatre goon – I’m trying to play it close to the chest, though I can’t really closet my penchant for the dramatic, my liberal leanings, and my repetoire of theatre stories.

Anyway – there’s a bit of (another!) USC “scandal” if you can even call it that. There’s investigating going on because apparently Leinart’s father was paying a big chunk of the rent on a $3000 + apartment that Matt shared with Dale Jarrett so now there’s an investigation.

USC fans think it’s a crock. I think that if everything is kosher (and because things are so often not in the NCAA) then the Leinart clan should have nothing to worry about. But I do think this is a case of the media looking for a story that is more than likely not there.

I don’t see what the issue is even if one exists. The sporting press is ALWAYS looking to blow something out of proportion – what happened to poor LenDale is a prime example of that (rumors of weight gain and drug tests going positive that may not have been even true to begin with resulted in him not being drafted until the 2nd round).

And by the way, posting and replying with our icons makes us look like such dorks.

I enjoy being a dork! I’m too damn lazy to try and be cool. Besides with X-men 3 coming out in T-minus 19 days I am NOT taking down Storm now!
