Another New Icon, Days Off, Planning Ahead for Stuff I Don’t Care About, ROH Disappoints, more

Ho, man. Long week.

Certainly not as long as some people. Some started school (BIG UPS TO JMS FOR COMPLETING HER FIRST PAPER OF THE SEMESTER FO SHO). Some made big moves. I’m sure some people out there even accomplished great, great things.

But not me! I blogged a few times, got sad when I couldn’t find “Aqualung”, and dealt with rampant stupidity at my job. But that’s over, and now I have a three-day weekend that I perpetually seem to be forgetting about. It’s like I’m a goldfish, and it’s one of those things where I’m reminded of it about once a day and forget it almost as quickly. There’s a good chance, in fact, that I’ll be dressed and almost out the door on Monday morning before I remember that I don’t have work. So I’m putting it on you, friends and readers, to remind me at least once this weekend.

Actually, scratch that, because that’ll get real annoying real quick.

At the urging of Val, I pre-registered for “Genericon” next weekend (link). It’s being held in Troy on RPI’s Campus, and despite its name and assertion that it runs the gamut from anime to sci-fi to gaming, I see nothing on the schedule that’ll hold much of my interest. I’m not huge into anime other than a couple shows, so the obscure stuff I won’t give a shit about. I’m not into video games, like, at all. And really, I’m not a big sci-fi guy either, with the notable exceptions of the spectacular “Battlestar Galactica” (the new series) and the surprisingly well done “Torchwood”. Also, cosplay? Fuckin’ hate it. I know, I’m a prejudiced guy, what can I say.

So…why am I going? Well, it’s something to do, I guess. I figure it’ll be good to have something planned in advance that’ll force me into the company of good people (as I’ve also done for this weekend). Let it be known here and now, however, that the moment somebody mistakes my jacket and hat for a get-up of some sort and guesses some obscure character they think I’m masquerading as, I am fucking OUT OF THERE.

Steve and I watched the “Ring of Honor: Undeniable” pay-per-view tonight. It was undeniably underwhelming, and I think I’m at the same point bpdermody is when it comes to ROH…just plain burned out. I couldn’t even get into the Morishima/McGuinness match, and I’m a total mark for both those guys. Blah. Just blah.

Alright, Scrabulous with itrytobeamused and then bed. Because I’m smooth like that.
