LOOK MA, NO MMA!

Being a man of my word, here’s an update that doesn’t involve MMA. As a bonus, there isn’t even talk of professional wrestling, stateside or otherwise. You’re welcome, Tory.

I woke up this morning at about 1:00pm. I really, really hate waking up that late on weekends. I used to be able to do that with no problem or feelings of guilt, however in the past couple months I’ve been trying to wake up at a reasonable hour. Particularly Sundays, since I know that if my sleeping schedule gets thrown off, my Mondays are going to be awful.

It took me about an hour before I remembered that it didn’t matter since tomorrow was Memorial Day, which I have off. Again, it’s been one of those weeks. I forgot to pay my cell phone bill on time, and I forgot I had Monday off. Had I not seen something that reminded me of Memorial Day, there’s a good chance I’d be all but on my way to work tomorrow morning until I remembered that I had the day off. It’s not as if there’s anything big going on or there’s something weighing heavily on my mind, I’ve just had a couple major brainfarts.

I didn’t really do all that much this weekend as far as your standard “Memorial Day” stuff is concerned. Friday I went out to dinner and Troy Night Out with Ed and Wetsel, as I’ve already gone into with yesterday’s entry. Last night Ed, Steve, and McLocks joined me for UFC 71, which was a lot of fun (OMG NO MORE MMA TALK I SWEAR). They stuck around until about 2:00am or so, at which point I bummed around online longer than I intended and did some reading, since I wasn’t anywhere close to tired. I don’t think I ended up falling until well after 5:00am, which is never good.

Today Ed was going to have a picnic at his place. Waking up at 1:00pm, it was 1:30pm by the time I was out of the shower and raining. My apologies to Ed if you’re reading this, but being grumpy after waking up late, seeing the poor weather, and not realizing I didn’t have to work tomorrow, I didn’t bother making too much effort to rush over. Definitely next time.

I was supposed to go to Jill and Pete’s for a bonfire at their place tonight, but I’m not sure what the plans are now that the weather forecast has been updated to “fucking miserable.” I feel bad for those that had solid Memorial Day plans, because as far as this area’s concerned, today isn’t being cooperative at all.

I went downtown yesterday to do some shopping – picked up some needed stuff (deodorant) at CVS and went into the Uncle Sam Deli (health food store) to do some light grocery shopping. For those who don’t know what place I’m referring to, it’s the one on 4th with the sign showing Uncle Sam pointing and a cartoon balloon reading “YO! Organic foods here!” They have some great stuff in there, although I made the mistake of buying a microwavable bowl of Asian noodles. I glanced at the package and saw 320 calories and said “screw it, why not.” I get it home, decide for whatever reason to take another look, and the serving size is half a bowl. 640 calories! Health food my ass. I did manage to pick up a package of Paul Newman’s organic low-fat version of Fig Newtons. I’ve had a couple, and they’re awesome. Then in another brainfart moment, I forgot to pick up milk. Ah well.

Note: voice message from Pete. The fire’s been squashed. Seriously, this weather is AWFUL.

I’m off for now. I figure I’ll make dinner, though that will require me doing dishes, which I really don’t want to do. But I’m a warrior, with great dish fighting spirit, so I’ll grin and bear it.

If anyone wants to do anything or has any ideas, give me a call. It’s not very often that I get a three-day weekend, and I’d like to be able to at least take some advantage of it.

More later…

Organic…I’m impressed. Not so impressed with the noodle bowl…good thing you didn’t look at the sodium. It would have raised you blood pressure without even actually ingesting.

Anyway, your grumpiness and forgetfulness could be do to the “blue moon”. I finally learned what that meant and that we are having one.

That is your fun fact of the day, brought to you by none other than kquist

    see ya soon!
